Background
In 2002 about 25 young people met in Haifa, Israel on an international exchange focussing on minorities and democracy in the country and in Sweden and Italy. Now it is time again. Minocracy 2004 is a follow-up in Sweden with the same focus and new participants.
Today!
We want to engage in a debate on what democracy is, in different cultural contexts. What parts do we appreciate? What do we want to change? And what is it like to be a part of a minority in a democratic, or less democratic, society?
The exchange
The 28th of October this year 44 young people will embark on the Minocracy 2004 exchange. For ten intense days the participants from Israel, Palestine, Italy and Sweden will travel through Sweden, telling each other their own stories, meeting representatives of different Swedish minorities, participating in workshops and study visits, discussing and socialising. The tour will start in southern Sweden and work its way up to the very northern parts.
